Nairobi, KIBERA slums

Lead Applicant: In what country are you located?

Kenya, Nairobi

Your Selected Place: what’s the name of the Place you’re developing a Vision for?

12.1 km square

What country is your selected Place located in?

Kenya Nairobi

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

This is where I work with youths and other groups of people like children, women

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

I have videohttps://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=159951068691153&id=100040287832351

What is the estimated population (current 2020) in your Place?

48000000

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

People are Many in this slums so the distribution of food to any family becomes a big challenge because of the people that are in need are many

Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.

Since we have reached to some of this people and the majority know us meaning that we have built that relationship with them and giving out of food will be peaceful since we have been organising them in their respective groups

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

I believe Many will be able to save money and do business that can support their families other than just depending on food , so I look at them being able to depend on themselves as we train them skill in savings and be able to do business

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

I believe Many will be empowered and be able to realise their potential in different skills above all else changing their mentality and thinking positive, so the giving out of food is just going to be a tool to reach them on saving and be able to open a business that will surstain them in their livelihoods and be able to support others as well .
