Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.
In kwara state, we have different ethnic groups which are Yoruba, with significant Nupe, Bariba, and Fulani minorities. These ethnic groups have almost common staple foods e.g Rice, Maize, Yam e.t.c they consumed but different methods of preparation depending on their taste.
Currently, the demand for foods is very high with low supply especially among urban dwellers which has increase foods price and leading to harsh economy. The lower supply of food is caused by inability of farmers to practice irrigation farming because of lack of necessary equipments and this makes some of them migrate to the city to earn a living and many of them to ignore farming. The few farmers that are able to produce are incorporating chemical fertilizers to boost their production, chemical preservatives to hoard and preserve foods and these chemicals are harmful to human health causing various ill health like cancer, kidney problem, liver problem amongst others.
Furthermore, farmers are running at loss because they don't have access to modern technologies for planting, harvesting and selling of crops which leads to on-field loss due to non-uniformity in harvesting and storage.
Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.
Iliason foods and farms vision is to produce sustainable and healthy foods that will be free of chemical fertilizers and preservatives for the exponentially increasing population and take advantage of modern technologies to build a mobile application that will connect consumers to farmers and or food processing industries.
