Oji_River LGA Farm reserve and NNPC Depot Emene Enugu Farm reserve Enugu ,Nigeria. Covers area of 100,000kmsq all the selected areas apply.

What country is your selected Place located in?

Nigeria, west coast of Africa covers area of 100,000kmsq including adjacent vision selected areas, okporodoro Ezeagu LGA 150kmsq _fertile.

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

I am related to Oji_River by marriage .I worked in NNPC Depot Emene Enugu Nigeria and we were given the area to farm to prevent wild fire from the oil Depot. The land is very fertile but Hunters set fire .This could be dangerous to inflammable pipe lines and products Depot.I am from the clan that owns okporodoro in Ezeagu LGA .

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

Native people. Very friendly. They eat cow peas as cheap nuitreshious protein. The NNPC Depot Emene Enugu Farm is a popular place in Enugu Nigeria. It's a tropical weather. The terrain is very fertile and easy to cultivate. It's protected from cattle herdsmen because is walled round and under security watch 24/7hours.It's a motorable area.I will attach photo and video. In subsequent communication. This place is inhabited by culturally well behaved Indigenous Igbo people and other diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria. They celebrate annual New yam festival in which cow pea is eaten with yam, palm oil,oil bean seeds siliced with pepper. It has rural_urban ratio of 2 to 5 million people. Their culture is very dynamic and support the food. Finally it's situated along Onitsha Enugu express ways. It has two rivers which support food production,_Ezu and Ozom rivers which support the choice of the area.

What is the approximate size of your Place, in square kilometers? (New question, not required)

What is the estimated population (current 2020) in your Place?

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

The first challenge is wildfire The second is Economic in the form of rising cost of production. Labour, finance, implements and seedlings and varieties. Lack of extension services. Lack of research and support services by government. Millions if farmers in this part of world lack access to modern farm techniques because their population is ageing. Corruption is also preventing modern technology and access to capital. The culture here also makes access to farmland ownership very costly. Most of the lands are community owned.Technology wise local technology and implements are used in production, eg hoes, matchets, garden forks. The challenges in the diets is it is processed to give maximum food value chain yet.Economically the farmers in the host community has no access to credits. The  crop is not yet exported for more income and post harvest losses The labor force is ageing..Soil Erosion occur sometimes.

Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.

My vision will encourage youths entrepreneurship in modern agriculture. Provide employment to teaming unemployed youths. As well as provide food in the table at affordable price. It will help to provide income and revenue to people and the government . The vision will help in individual land ownership. It wil help to provide protein eous food at subsidized rate. And make finance capital accessible to genuine farmers.Nigeria government now provide Ecology funds to check soil Erosion. My vision will provide farm support services and help farmers access credits from Bank of Agriculture Nigeria by forming co-op eratives. My vision will fully explore the food value chain of this crop and make way for exportation and foreign exchange revenue.

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

They will be opened to modern farm techniques. Their standard of living will impacted positively. They will be liberated from ignorance to embrace modern technology in agriculture. Have access tofinance capital. For mechanized agriculture and the resultant wealth. The living of people will improve considerable investors will come, Technology will give way to advanced technology and mechanization. Youths entrepreneurship skills will be encouraged through financial and Economic empowerment of the youths .This will reposition food production and farming as a noble profession.

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

This vision will be regenerative and duplicating inthe sense that youths will incorporated into this venture. It be passed to unborn generation because nuitreshious protein in diets is equal to none.we can never have balanced diets with out protein. Cow peas are good alternative to beans. It grows well in the tropical region. This food is naturally endowed with protein and is well consumed worldwide and especially in African communities..The crop is important because it's grows and sustained by the culture of the people for consumption.

This is the last Edition on The Food system Vision prize open Submission by Faith Restoration Prophetic Bible mission_Demonstration Farm branch of The ministry to produce Nutritional cow pea(fio fio or Agbugbu) to feed world population by by 2050.We chose Agu Ukwu Nkwere Oji river LGA and Okporodoro land UmuochieFamily Ezeagu LGA all in Enugu state Nigeria because of the fertility of the soil and enormity of the land. These places are inhabited by culturally well behaved indigenous Igbo people who speak Igbo language and co_inhabited with other ethnic groups and foreign diplomats. We chose cow pea because its available in our local diets as a cheap source of protein. The food is widely consumed in that the tropical environment such as we have here supported the crops because they survive and produce in commercial quantity based on the nature of soil, the weather here is friendly with moderate rain and Sunshine. The annual New yam festival of people also encouraged the production because cow pea is eaten with yams and Dry cocoa yam(Achicha),It could be eaten alone or mixed with plantain. The food is economically viable and also affordable. Linked with local or indigenous technology the food production is regenerative .It had survived through the ages to the present days in Igboland and will continue. Especially now that government encourage youth participation in agriculture through youth empowerment agricultural policy and policy of back to land through credit policy sourced from Nigeria Bank of Agriculture. Food production is mainly the means of livelihood of the people here and provides job for those who would chose agriculture as the profession God gave to man from the beginning of creation in the garden. Food production sometimes faces the problem of soil Erosion ,climate change, lack of farm support or intervention by government and most recently the problem of farm crisis between farmers and herdsmen. In recent time government provides Ecology funds to check soil erosion, provided farm supports to farmers in terms of seedlings, enlightenment campaign and extension services and credit facilities. If not for myopic leadership the problem of farmers and herdsmen crisis should not be because there is no where open grazing is practised now in the world except Nigeria. However, as a professional farmer and a clergy my Vision would address the problem holistically by putting agriculture and food value chain in the proper perspective. Creating the enabling environment for food production to evolve to put diet on the tables of mankind through 2050..And sincerely commend and appreciate Rockefeller foundation for taking a lead in this global campaign. At time extending appeal to other investment organizations to join hands in fellowship to advance this course of humanity (food production for world population by 2050) and make the planet Earth better place for living.
