We're starting the pilot in Roxbury.Bodega Makeover will travel where it is needed to ensure fresh and reliable food supplies are available.

What country is your selected Place located in?

United States of America

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

Roxbury, MA is part of a food desert area - a high rate of health issues.

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

Healthy options is very limited in urban communities. We work with organizations that want to collaborate on providing education and business resource to bodega owners.

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

There are many bodegas in urban communities that are not providing healthy options and they don't utilize resources that are available to them.

Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.

Bodega Makeover show wants to be a blueprint in educating our communities about foods in an entertaining way.

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

Sustainability if KEY here! We've worked behind the scenes to develop a relationship with organizations that want to provide direct service to those in need. The bodega will serve as a hub spot to provide resources.

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

Our vision is to promote healthier options and to tell the stories of Hispanic/Urban communities that have less access to healthy food, while simultaneously connecting families and communities.

I would just like to suggest reviewing your vision according to the Prize's Themes frame and the guidelines on the Evaluation Criteria:

It may be that the questions that it includes lead you to new perspectives or simply help you to confirm the details of your proposal.
