Who is your idea designed for and how does it support the dreams and obligations of those 50 and older?

Nationals who grew up in other countries and moved here during their adult lives. They are used to being in small tight-knit communities and spent their lives handling family responsibilities, but now feel like they have no purpose in their lives. This is due to feeling isolated and separated as their children have grown up and started their own lives and not having enough money to pursue their dreams. It allows these people to exchange their knowledge and experiences to save for their dreams

How might 50+ Nationals in UK share experience & knowledge through community for saving for their dreams

“Retirement means death.”

This was a metaphor that was used in one of our interviews. It means they feel useless and have no purpose in life once their family responsibilities have ended. It shows they still want some activity in their lives and want to fulfill their dreams.

From this, we have decided to create a service where these people can feel useful again by allowing them to share their knowledge and experiences with the community. This in turn rewards the users with vouchers that help with everyday life and allows them to save money to put towards their dreams.

Share and Save is a mobile application that users can sign up to write, record, and share their knowledge and experiences to their community. The community can react to the uploaded content and give likes that become credits for the user. They can then exchange these credits for vouchers that help them save money.

How to use the app

  • Register: Requires their personal details and language preferences. For Example: their address so they are able to receive vouchers.
  • Homepage: there is a tutorial, explains how to use the app to get closer to achieving their dreams.
  • Share: Their knowledge and experience:  Writing, recording, or taking pictures. For example: they can record a video showing how to make a traditional dish from their culture.
  • Publish: Other members of the community can give likes to the users work
  • Exchange:  Likes become credits that users save or exchange.
  • Gathering meet up: Posting their gathering photos to get

The reward system is a credit-based system that user exchange for vouchers that work with local businesses.

Money is saved by using these vouchers which means money can be put aside for their dreams and aspirations.

Overalls, our aims is to bring purpose to these peoples' lives by reconnecting them by with their communities by using their experience and knowledge and allowing them to help save money that can be put towards their dreams and aspirations in life.

I really like the concept of getting elderly people from other countries connecting with each other and spreading the wisdom they have built up over the years in their differnt cultures. I also like how if they help others out the get rewarded to, I think that is a nice touch.
