Who is your idea designed for and how does it enable older adults to live their best possible life by preventing falls?
This idea is designed for people who live alone or who are home alone at the time of a fall and are unable to reach a phone to call for help after a fall. If a fall happens on a rug or runner using this sensor pad, then an alert would be sent to a remote monitoring service that would then call the person's home using an emergency speaker system placed strategically throughout the home. The fallen person can then request help, or if unable to respond, help will be sent immediately.
This idea aims to help people who live alone or are home alone when they experience a fall by detecting a fall the instant it happens and improving the response time to assist the fallen person.
What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?
The system's viability could be determined by building a relatively simple and inexpensive mockup and further testing it's combined use with a simple speakerphone or Google Home & Amazon Echo.
What skills, input, or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?
