Who is your idea designed for and how does it enable older adults to live their best possible life by preventing falls?

This idea is purely based on empathizing with elderly people whom I came across. Most of the injuries in elderly people are happening because of fall in lavatory due to the slippery floor. Some times it causes serious threat to their life. Dry lavatory is one of my idea to prevent elderly people from falling in lavatory

Dry lavatory is  my idea to prevent elderly people from falling in lavatory

1. Its starts with building a bathroom floor in 20 degree inclined position (as shown in the attachment)

2. On the above a flat upper floor is a strong grid like structure with holes in it. Each grid is size of about one square feet. Its removable and easy to clean.

3. A air blower which helps to quickly dry the water droplets after every lavatory use.

4. A adjustable steel bar with rubber grip along the two sides of the wall will be very much helpful to use the lavatory for elderly

Since the upper grid floor has tinny holes in it, the water used in lavatory will not stay in the upper floor, it will fall in to the bottom inclined floor. Due to the 20 degree slop at the bottom, the water will quickly run to the outlet tube. The Air blow will dry out the remaining droplets in the upper floor and keep the floor always dry. Due to this the lavatory floor will never be slippery and people can feel the floor as a normal room floor. Dry lavatory also keep the bathroom germs free and fungi

My idea is open to all. Please feel free to share your thoughts. My objective is to bring this idea to all the elders around the world in affordable/Free cost.

Hi Harrison!

Thank you for sharing your idea. Would this retrofit in existing bathrooms or be for new build properties?

Khuyen Bui Gia - do you have any questions?

Great to hear from you Kate. The answer is both. Dry lavatory could be retrofit in existing bathrooms by elevating the bathroom floor about 2 feet to get the 20 degree angle on slope. On top of the inclined floor, grid frame can be placed. A ramp or staircase can be placed in the door to compensate the height
