The project faced is to renovate trails that have fallen into disrepair along Keuka Lake in Upstate New York. Instead of working on making decisions first and coming up with the solution, our team tried to come up with what the users might want in these trails. Natural areas? Equestrian trails? ADA compliant paved paths? We spoke with people in the area and came up with some findings that lead us along the path the team has decided to take. Though this project is not yet complete, OpenIDEO ideas really opened my eyes to a different way to design. Rather than simply designing first, wasting time by having the proposal rejected, I believe that this process instead will lead to streamlined success for the team and the users.
