In this video, Silva defines 'serendipity' as moments of unexpected relevance:
"Moments in which you find yourself looking for something but find something else, and then realize that what you found is more conducive to your needs than what you thought you were looking for" - Jason Silva.
I believe that much like serendipity, open innovation lives in the space of juxtaposition. Open innovation thrives in spaces of unexpected collision of: subjects, disciplines, cultures, backgrounds and beliefs, etc. It really is all about creating an operating space or means for diverse and extreme ideas to collide - be it a social platform or an open office space. Yet perhaps more importantly, open innovation is also about finding the right tools to capture the resulting ideas.
