Our Peaceful Journey

Is a spouse the best choice to honor a loved one's end of life wishes?

My mother and I openly shared our thoughts about death and dying.  My father was her medical proxy until my mother became very ill.  I was able to spare my father from unspeakable pain, and honor my mother's wishes.

What is a provocation or insight that might inspire others during this challenge?

Clearly define what DNR means to a terminal patient. Then discuss the best person who can and will honor those wishes. It might be an innapropriate resonsibility for a spouse.

Tell us about your work experience:

I've worked in the music industry most of my career. I've just finished writing a memoir about The Rock Stars of Neuroscience. I'm on UCLA's Depression Grand Challenge Advocay Team.
