What is a provocation or insight that might inspire others during this challenge?

Every Family will face a difficult period during which parents or loved ones face an end of life journey and need assistance from trusted family and friends. That assistance will surely entail help with managing health care & finances for that family member or friend. Very well written and useful article, Michael.  Thanks for sharing.  As a Canadian managing the last year of life of my American cousin 1200 miles away, I can relate to most of what you shared here.

Thank you Eric.  Traveling a long distance - and/or assisting with care long distance - is another facet of this issue.   Around the globe families & loved ones are coping with this - and many other aspects - of our aging population.
