HEART First is a multi-sensory artistic relief eToolkit self-empowering patients to cope with the pain/stress of an end-of-life experience.

While battling cancer, I envisioned, authored and orchestrated a 75-person collaborative artistic project to help patients cope with dying.

What is a provocation or insight that might inspire others during this challenge?

Clinical studies conclude treating a patient's mind-body-soul decreases their: (1) Powerlessness, (2) Pain, (3) Stress, (4 & 5) Reliance on Addictive Painkillers and Prescription Drugs. Sadly, mind-body-soul treatment in mainstream medical practice is happening at a glacial pace. Meaning people are suffering unduly. The arts are now recognized as an integral component of mind-body-soul care.

Tell us about your work experience:

Part II of HEART First is an eToolkit containing: 26 Written ‘A to Z’ Meditations on “The Purpose of Life” each reimagined by artisans into their therapeutic artistic brethren: (1) 26 Soothing Recitations (2) 26 Contemplative Visual Art Pieces, (3) 26 7-16 minute Musical Sanctuaries, (4) 26 Meditative Video Vignettes and (5) 26 Heavenly Aromatherapy Scents. One ‘A to Z’ piece from each art therapy type is pooled then edited to create series of immersive 14-minute "Coping And Relief Experiences".
