Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine the end-of-life experience?

This idea is designed for the elderly people who needs to obtain sources of income from their knowledge and experiences, in order to develop social dignity, self-esteem and interior peace from sharing their stories.

We are living in a society where the "Inmediatism" has won a battle agains the traditional education, the long talks with our elderly community and the practice of different activies like traditional games, recipies and handmade fabrication.

This people has been set aside in our society and left in their houses, hospitals or nursing houses to "die peacefully". The cost of dying exceed in thousands of dollars the incomes and savings of a lifetime (if they have).

One of the main objectives of this project is not only to obtain incomes to reduce the stress and anxiety of people in their last moments in this material world, but also to empower them, giving them the opportunity to feel Useful, Important, to feel accompanied by someone and Part of a society that cares about their path in this planet.

This project is a way to thank and support them, through learning and sharing.

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

We would like to share this idea with people living in nursing homes, hospitals and foundations where they would be able to participate in ideation workshops, in order to collect ideas about the categories of knowledges , stories and other abilities that could be shared in exchange of economical incomes. Ideas about the platform, if it can be online or in-person. How the courses could be presented and be tracked.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

It would be very helpful if the OpenIDEO community could support this project, its development and implementation. We count on this community as people interested in making contributions not only in vulnerable population, but also in their contexts and even their education.
We ask for help with inputs about what people in your communities are interested in knowing from their elderly population. Collages, interviews, drawings, pictures, and all kind of contributions are welcome.

Tell us about your work experience:
