Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine the end-of-life experience?

This is an idea for any of us, humans, as any of us will have to depart some day and leave behind children, friends, or people we care for. This is an idea for those who believe that considering the possible ending of our life can help focus on the most important things (values, fundamental messages) we have to pass on to the next generations. And finally this is an idea for those who think we have a responsibility to help our loved ones cope with our own dying.

I envision a book that on would write at any moment in life. It would have different chapters, like :

- the most important moments in my life,

- the people that helped me become who I am,

- the persons I am thankful to,

- my best memories,

- the places I like most,

- my little pleasures in life,

- the values that are fundamental to me

- the misfortunes of my life and what they taught me

- etc.

The book wold be written by anybody - even in a perfect health condition - and reviewed regularly to add to each chapter and change things. At the beginning, there would be a list of people who would receive it in case of an accident or after one's death - with a specific chapter dedicated to those specific persons (like "why I loved you", "what I wish for you", etc.).

And as most people would be willing to have these books written while they are already sick and maybe unable to write them themselves - this initiative would also require a network of volunteers to spend time with old or sick people and listen to their memories.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

- Maybe this already exists ; it would be good to know.
-The typical summary of the book should be designed collectively (adding all inputs + selecting most important topics) - although in the end one should be able to chose the relevant chapters for oneself
- To design a book is quite easy - to design the whole system with the community to help writing them and then with the process that would ensure the proper communication of these books to the right persons is much more difficult to imagin

Tell us about your work experience:

I work in Innovation & Strategy consulting and see Design thinking as a major discipline to craft "innovations that really work". However my interest in this topic is very personal as I intend to join initiatives in the end-of-life field as a volunteer in the near future (or create my own project..
