Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine the end-of-life experience?

The important task of building the family‘s legacy can help families to talk openly about future and continuity. Looking for family traditions, stories, dreams and heritage can improve the experience of the end-of-life for the whole family.

Families have the important task of finding and processing the legacy of the family and the older ones, to be able to find continuity and meaning after the loss of the beloved.

That could be an exiting challenge for the family as a whole, a playful activity, a ritual and an interesting task. It might involve passions, knowledge, stories, the creation of a book, a diary, activities together, boardgames, etc. To spark conversation and sharing.

Thos activities would highlight the legacy of the elder or ill person, and involve the whole family into discovering that legacy and finding continuity in future familiar plans.

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

Talk to elder and old people, ask them and try different strategies to motivate them with talking about their legacy, their stories and the future of their family without them.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?
