Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine the end-of-life experience?

The Integrative Healing Arts course provides training to all levels of caregivers and families, and also empowers the individual to employ self care techniques for management of stress and symptoms related to the dying process.

This is a comprehensive certificate program in the Integrative Healing Arts designed for caregivers at all levels of practice using the art and science of shifting from the stress response to the relaxation response, thus providing opportunities for healing in the moment.

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

This program has now been disseminated to multiple facilities within Sutter Health, and has been shown to markedly improve the patients experience of care and has shown to be cost effective as well. The results of interventions are now being documented in the EHR, and data collection and research are in process.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

We plan to offer our program to Palliative and End of Life care initiatives within Sutter at all points of care delivery, bringing self empowerment and rejuvenation to staff and patients.

Tell us about your work experience:

I am a board certified holistic nurse in the US, and have practiced nursing for 35 years. I am an entrepreneur and healing artist.
