Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine the end-of-life experience?

The One Memorial is for everyone, from all walks of life. The One Memorial is a symbol for the living, that we are all one, connected with each other, no matter your background, race, beliefs or finances.

As the ultimate gesture of unity, the concept is to create a communal memorial/urn where people can opt in to have their ashes stored with people from all walks of life. This monument would stand as a symbol of unity and equality under all humankind.

With room running out for burials this One Memorial would store the ashes of everyone who wanted to be part of it. It would be a place of loved ones and friends of the deceased to meet and reflect with other grievers and start conversation with people from all walks of life who have experienced the same loss as oneself. All while sending the message that we are all the same, connected with each other. I am imaging the memorial to be able to incorporate technology, to where the images of the deceased would be displayed with personal messages, that would be uploaded via a social network, either by the dying before their death or their friends and family. This social network would also connect all grieving and create a platform of support and a place to share useful information and resources.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

It would be great to have the idea shared on a wider scale to see if something like this would be socially acceptable and to find resources to make the One Memorial a reality.

This is a strange idea. This design is suitable for lively occasions, but not suitable for burial. Although our led display ( can achieve this effect, I don't recommend it.
