A digital funeral planning service that put you in control of how your life will be remembered and celebrated.
Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine the end-of-life experience?
Imagine an end of life ceremony that is all about you...your favourite venue, music, friends, flowers, food and of course your story. myendnotes provides the opportunity to document all of your wishes and instructions and record your life’s story.
I am Stephanie Longmuir, a funeral celebrant and having spent thousands of hours working with families to create perfect end of life ceremonies I have developed a website where the planning begins before it’s too late.
- The Problem I am Solving. Most families are completely unprepared for death. Many wish they had some idea about what their loved one would have wanted. The modern family is complex and without clear instructions death provides opportunity for disputes. Baby Boomers are looking for better ways to remember and celebrate their lives.
- My Solution, myendnotes.com empowers individuals to take control of their funeral instructions and the way they will be remembered by educating and informing on available options and thus relieving family members of decision making at a time of shock and grief and eliminating potential disputes between family members. It also provides a platform for self-reflection.
What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?
Having met too many families who wished they had asked the all important questions while they still had time I realised there was a need for myendnotes.
While some may be reluctant to talk about death and funerals many have a clear idea about how they would like to be remembered and celebrated. myendotes provides a place to document wishes and instructions and guides you through the many options available for an end of life ceremony.
What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?
I am looking for a partnership, an opportunity to match my insight and knowledge as a celebrant with some marketing and business expertise to help launch my website and grow this part of my business.
