What problem does your innovation solve?
The Shipping Contain School is designed as a community school that allows for both face-to-face, blended, and maker instruction. The containers come pre-loaded with satellite, tablets/smartphones, computers, generat 3D Printers, supplies, instructional content, etc... The theme of the school will be building a better community and assessments and instructions and focus on the math and language development through multi-disciplinary themes of community and environment.
Explain your innovation.
The access to technology in universal areas is difficult, each emergency area--refugees or victims of natural disasters have different needs. But generally, the access to ICT's is limited. Retro-Fitted shipping contains allow for a fast way to get critical communication services to the community. The shipping containers can be made safe and secure. Some can open up and extend the learning environment to outside.
Inside the container would be supplies--like computers, tablet carts, printers, server, paper and 3D printer supplies.
When the refugee or crisis victim arrives they are assessed for both language and math knowledge, psychological stability and trauma. This allows for a personalized content filter to be established and can address any barriers to learning, while providing support services. All students at the school receive a feature phone, if they don't have one, that can be pre-loaded with ability appropriate instruction content (video and text), note-taking, and practice drills to work on when not at school. Feature phones are used because 92% of the world's population has access to these devices.
A typical day at the school is a maker. Students work on projects in teams and communicate solving problems that they see in their community. The time at the school is brief since many may need to help with home or recovery process.
The community & environment theme is used because these areas have lots of problems and it promote empathy in the learner.
The concept could be used as pre-school to adult learners. The focus of training modules would focus on K-12. Students that sign up for Container School will have access to learn basic math and language skills while having access to computer science skills through the enriched learning lab and maker environment.
The Container School provides girls with an environment where they can discreetly learn while having an supportive safe environment to grow. However, the community at-large benefits from the access to technology and the schools focus on solving the big wicked problems that are effecting their community at that period of time, it empowers people that have loss power by letting them focus on positive change.

I am an educational technologist that believes the world is change because ICT is changing it and want to be part of the solution to make the transitions smooth. My specialty is mobile learning and develop products that help make educational access easier and faster for educators, students and parents.
