What problem does your innovation solve?

Educamino is a program that contributes to the education of children in situations of vulnerability in the social and economic spheres. Likewise, it was detected that the distances that children must travel to study are very long, so the program takes education to these areas by a truck equipped to be a classroom. The most important points of the program is the empowerment of children and women to reduce any negative ideology that prevents them from leaving Study and get ahead.

Explain your innovation.

EDUCAMINO is a mobile educational unit that becomes a gateway to a world filled with learning where through dynamic and interactive stories children develop literacy skills, numerical recognition and critical thinking as well as fostering their social and ecological commitment. The unit eliminates traditional educational buildings and classrooms with tables and chairs to give way to a space made to measure children with multifunctional furniture of different sizes and colors where children can play, relax and delve into the stories loaded of knowledge. On the other hand, the mobile characteristic of this project brings isolated communities the possibility of attending on a regular basis a training center and thus their children who are normally marginalized from the education system can obtain basic training. For EDUCAMINO to be sustainable, a minimum monetary cost of registration and a periodic fee through recyclable materials is applied as part of the environmental awareness program.

Who benefits?

Kids between 9 and 12 years old, in vulnerable situation, who didn’t receive any kind of formation or had to drop out school because lack of accessibility to the school from their homes. These kids benefit of the easy access to the mobile unit bringing new educational opportunities. The measuring factor that we would use will be the percent of illiteracy we estimated that can be reduced by 15% in one academic year.

How is your innovation unique?

So far, various ways have been developed to foster educational content for various communities, from mobile libraries to technological laboratories. But there are still no mobile units that can generate high impact educational content in vulnerable populations, we through EDUCAMINO seek to exit traditional educational methods, Eliminating school desertion and opening a door of knowledge and insertion to the society of the children of each locality, in order to reach the goals of increasing the literacy rate, level the population of floating children so that they can be incorporated into the formal education system, empower children to evolve in society, generate a safe space for the development of children in isolated areas, generate a space for integration.
