The people that I see each day.

In my neighborhood, in my neighborhood.

The Nurse is a worker in my neighborhood,

She gives you medicine,

When you are sick.

My mummy is a parent in my neighborhood,

In my neighborhood, in my neighborhood,

My mummy is a parent in my neighborhood,

She feeds me every day, with a smile.(Illustration)

My daddy is a worker in my neighborhood,

In my neighborhood, in my neighborhood,

My daddy is a worker in my neighborhood,

I greet him every day, with a kiss. (Illustration)

"Tell me why daddy goes to work every day;

Why daddy goes to work every day?"

"Daddy works every day,

To provide for all our family needs."

The teacher is a worker in my neighborhood, (Illustration)

In my neighborhood, in my neighborhood,

The teacher is a worker in my neighborhood,

She teaches numbers, colours, songs and Alphabets.  (Illustration)

The Doctor is a worker in my neighborhood, (Illustration)

In my neighborhood, in my neighborhood,

He takes care of people,

Who are sick.

Sally-Mae is an infant in my neighborhood,

In my neighborhood, in my neighborhood,

We cut out all our shapes each day.

Square, Triangle, Circle, Rectangle, Star, Oval. (Illustrations)

These are the people in my neighborhood,

People that I see, each day.

Describe the intended vision for your early childhood book manuscript in 1-2 sentences

This manuscript is a sing-a-long story, telling about different people in the neighborhood that the children meet each day. The story along with the visuals, will help the children be able to identify some of the different workers in the neighborhood, as well as learn their shapes.

How has this book been informed by early childhood language development research and evidence? (response minimum 250 Characters)

This book has been informed by preschool administrators who gave me feedback about the content and the words used in there is in keeping with the tier 1 vocabulary for children, 0-3 years old, and henceforth, the material supports language development for that age group. Caregivers are helping children with language development with this manuscript as the language is for children of this age group. Also it is very interactive especially being a sing-a-long; and the illustrations make it even better.

Please describe any familiarity you may have with Philadelphia and its residents? (optional question)

I have visited a few places in Philadelphia and it was lovely being there.

How have you crafted this manuscript to resonate with and/or reflect the experiences of those living in urban contexts? (optional question)

The manuscript was written so that those living in urban concepts can identify with the content. The reader will benefit greatly from the manuscript because they will feel like they are actually in their community and it is a living experience. Also the illustrations will make them feel even more in touch with their environment. They also get to use play dough to make and cut out the shapes and that is also a learning experience.

This manuscript is said to be a learning tool for teachers to teach children about the workers in the community. I share the same sentiments too and happy others feel the same. The children will have fun.
