Q, R. S, T, U, V,

 W, X, Y, and Z,

Come along and sing with me.

Tommy the cat loves the park!

He puts on his white winter jacket.

He races me to the park.

Tommy the cat makes a snow angel. (Illustration)

We sing along: (Illustration)

I swing and slide,

I make a white snow man.

It is snowing,

It is snowing,

Can’t you see?

Can't you see?

Falling down from the sky,

Falling down from the sky,

White snowflakes,

White snowflakes.

Tommy the cat, is very tired,

 And ready for his bed,

But first he stretches, meows,

 Sits on my lap,

Drinks some milk,

And he brushes his teeth.

Tommy and I sing, The Good Night Song.

Good night, Good night,

Have a restful night.

Please say you prayers,

To God who loves you dear.

How has this book been informed by early childhood language development research and evidence? (response minimum 250 Characters)

I agree that, "Children learn more between the ages of 0-3 years than ever again in their lives;" and therefore, I have created this colorful, fun, sing-along, educational book, to help caregivers be creative as they assist toddlers and infants while having fun together. The language also is very simple, and the character sketches, as well as the songs and colors, help with the language development for caregivers. Tier 1 vocabulary is also used. Because of the pictures and colors the book is not abstract and the children can learn faster and have more fun learning. From Early Childhood Development List: Watched: Learning and Development of Toddlers. I familiarized myself with, UNICEF Early Development Read: Milestones of Early Literacy Development, Dear Mr. Rodgers, Does it Ever Rain in Your Neighborhood? before I put this manuscript together and also asked for feedback from the Early Childhood Unit in my country, and from teachers and caregivers of Early Childhood Centers.

Please describe any familiarity you may have with Philadelphia and its residents? (optional question)

I visited Philly once and I loved the green grass, and the lovely trees and the sun at dusk, was just a beauty to behold. The parks created a serene atmosphere for a nice picnic. The residents were nice and their smiling faces, some of them, gladdened your heart.

How have you crafted this manuscript to resonate with and/or reflect the experiences of those living in urban contexts? (optional question)

I have crafted this manuscript to resonate with and/ or reflect the experiences of those living in urban contexts; and it is relative to other contexts as well. I am quite sure that this manuscript will help readers with easy to read words and as a means of helping toddlers and infants with the knowledge they need as beginners. The sing along music will help them remember too, as they learn more than ever in their lives at this age. I think this is important so that the child is able to relate to the story from the perspective of where she/he lives or his/her surroundings. The child must be able to feel and live the story and therefore the content of the story gives that experience.

Tell us more about you / your team

I am Perlina Murray, a Saint Lucian, Poet and Author. As a former Early Childhood Teacher, I have access to all kinds of networks for kids and when a friend from the Saint Lucia Writers Forum, of which I am vice President, posted the challenge I could not resist. I wanted to do something special and meaningful, educational and inclusive to both infants, toddlers and Early Child hood Care Givers. I wanted it to be fun and exciting and something the kids can relate to and therefore, I created, Tommy the cat, a read, and sing along story book that is inclusive so children can engage in with their caregivers. As I focused on this challenge, I connected with the partners by using the site and navigating through the "Learning center for Learning Development of Toddlers, site and that helped with the creation of my though process in developing this manuscript.
