The Story of the Rainbow

Long long ago, in a little town, there lived a small girl called Kelly.

One day Kelly was looking out of her window. She wanted to play, but it was raining.

The Cloud fairy called out to Kelly, “Why are you sad dear?”

Kelly said “I’m bored”.

Cloud fairy knew what to do. She called her other seven fairy friends -

‘Do’ dressed in pink,

 ‘Re’ in purple,

 ‘Mi’ in blue,

 ‘Fa’ in green,

 ‘Sol’ in yellow,

 ‘La’ in orange

 and ‘Ti’ in red.

The fairies started playing with colorful balls throwing them from one cloud to the next. The highest thrower would win.

Do sang ‘Do’ and threw a pink ball.

Re sang ‘Re’ and threw a purple ball higher than pink.

Mi sang ‘Mi’ and threw a blue ball higher than purple.

Fa sang ‘Fa’ and threw a green ball higher than blue.

Sol sang ‘Sol’ and threw a yellow ball higher than green.

La sang ‘La’ and threw an orange ball higher than yellow.

Ti sang ‘Ti’ and threw a red ball higher than orange. Ti won.

All the colors stuck to the sky. It looked like a beautiful bow.

Kelly said “Rain-bow…Rainbow!”

All the fairies danced together singing ‘Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti’.

The thunder fairy played the drums.

Kelly laughed watching this.

To this day, the fairies play the Rainbow game in the clouds whenever it rains, for little kids like Kelly and you to be happy.

A nice new fable to add to the ranks.
One I will remember to tell my little ones.
The story also introduces musical notes.
