My Rainbow Ball by Tullan Holmqvist

[Illustration Notes: A magic ball is followed by a small child, from place to place in the city, the colors, animals and objects described follow along until the end where all the colors of the rainbow play together in the park.]

My ball likes to play

Night and day

Home and away.

Up and down

In and out

And all around.

Bounce, bounce, jump

Roll, roll, thump

Up, down, bump.

My ball wants to play

Here to there

And everywhere.

So I follow along.

Oh no!

where did it go?

“Have you seen my ball?”

I ask a boy with red feet,

“Yes, it rolled down the street!”

I ask an orange dog.

“Woof, woof,” it barks,

“Follow the yellow skates!”

“I see! I see!” tell the skates to me.

“Rolling to a green tree,

Follow me!”

“The bird all blue,”

Is the next clue,

that the leaves tell you.

Bounce, bounce, jump

Roll, roll, thump

Up, down, bump

The bird flies into the park,

“Ask the girl in the hat

And the big indigo cat.”

I run

and we run

Oh! This is fun!

Here is my ball

With a violet ring

And together we sing!

All the colors together

We slide and swing,

dance and sing,

All the colors together

We climb and play,

And jump all day.

All the colors together

Happy as can be

With my rainbow ball.

Bounce, bounce, jump

Roll, roll, thump

Up, down, bump.
