Please describe any familiarity you may have with Philadelphia and its residents? (optional question)

I lived in Philly for 2 years and worked as a sales manager at the Crown Plaza in the early 2000's. I had a huge appreciation for the arts in Philly and would frequent the museum for the Friday music hour. I found the culture in Philly to be one of the warmest and incredible of anywhere I lived in the world. Dark streets turned colorful in Philly-- mainly through the City's emphasis on art, music and culture. This may sound strange but I felt a kinship with many of the homeless people and they inspired my Musicat series through their amazing warmness and appreciation of the wonderful Philly arts culture.

How have you crafted this manuscript to resonate with and/or reflect the experiences of those living in urban contexts? (optional question)

Yes very much so. I love street performers and am amazed by them. My Musicat brand and character is a stray homeless cat that finds a purpose, inspiration, meaning and love when he hears the sounds of a lonely musician playing on the streets. After hearing this he becomes so excited and full of life he morphs into a super treble clef cat- and "wallah" Musicat comes to life. HIs mission becomes to spread this message and love for music in every city and everywhere he goes. This was totally inspired by my watching street musicians and artists come to life just by doing what they love on the streets of Philly.
