One seed in the ground,

Three miles out of the town

One dark little rain cloud,

Then two clouds,

Then three.

(As soon as the tree appears, birds show up to live in it. The text in the book will often partially illustrated like the words on the left. The words are oversized )

One fast-growing tree

That is an awesome tree.

Where the seeds used to be,

One mama sparrow,

Three baby sparrow,

Tweet tweet,

And a big busy bumble-bee, (bizz bizz)

All live in the tree where the seed used to be.

The animal circus of Tracy and Grace Drive by (beep beep)

Look up and look down for the runway clowns

(After a while turns out they've lost their clown. (Can you find him?) While Tracy and Grace look around a naughty monkey steals their key. And he sets the animals free)

13 more animals, suddenly free,

All Around

On the Ground

Climb into the tree,

I am a tree, (said the tree)

You can't sit on me

Including an elephant, who you can't see.

Uh-oh.

Thirty three animals,

Counting the crown,

Get up off the ground

Without making a sound,

Flee from the lea

Where tree used to be.

Please describe any familiarity you may have with Philadelphia and its residents? (optional question)

No, I don't have any familiarity with lifestyle of Philly but we are researching on it side by side.

How have you crafted this manuscript to resonate with and/or reflect the experiences of those living in urban contexts? (optional question)

I strongly believe that children have their own perception with the situation. They totally think differently. I wrote this manuscript while exploring with the children in the daycare centre. The children development with their own experience gives child new begining of learning and this is the soul of my work.By taking a part of this challenge, I would like to share my creative contributions for the child development. Furthermore, I will be translating the finalized manuscript in Urdu for our local community as well.

Tell us more about you / your team

I am Khadija . I are from North Pakistan. From where I belong, our core values include gratitude, acceptance and empathy. The inspiration for the characters came to me quite quickly. After spending time in the day care center of our university, I was able to develop an understanding of how caregivers interact with children. This helped me in developing the stories and since I have been making illustrations so I visualize the story first before finding the words for it.

Hi khadija chishti  Welcome to the Challenge Community!
Very engaging read, i was hooked on to reading it all the way to the end. Loved how the scene builds up.
How might you evolve your manuscript to introduce new nudges of engagement and interaction for caregivers, to help them with their child’s learning development as they narrate the story? You can find some inspiration in the Final Toolkit and Challenge Resources listed on the challenge page
