Are people aware of the personal data, they give away for free every time they use the internet?
Sketch 1 (1,500 characters)
In my work I wanted to focus on an activity that is easily relatable. Through my illustration, I am trying to create awareness about how unintentionally we, ourselves, give away our privacy on the internet. I tried to keep it grounded by using "selfies" as the focal point. Selfie because almost everyone, from kids to elderly people, is acquainted with this act and can easily relate. I have used some imagery to give a peek of what happens under the hood. People use mobiles to take pics and immediately upload to some social media app. Along with the pictures, sometimes we give away chucks of our personal info as well. While responsible companies take care to remove them, others may not. Being aware of this fact, may force people to think before they upload their pics on any random website
Sketch 2 (1,500 characters)
This second illustration sums up what our digital footprints can reveal about us. A single pic is harmless. But a multitude of them, courtesy of our social media profiles, along with the location and data, reveal a lot about our personal life. It's not that people are totally unaware about this. It's just looking at it from a different perspective. Here I am using a digital map, which is another tech people are very familiar with, thanks to many all those Commute and Food delivery start-ups. Most people use it on regular basis to keep track of their orders. Here I attempted to map their personal data on a map, to illustrate how their digital footprints can be used to track them.
What have you learned through this sketching process? (1,000 characters)
While researching about privacy, I came to know how much data gets collected by our devices we use in day to day. Mostly mobiles. And most of the time people are not even aware. Exif data of a photo captures your location, device information and all kinds of meta-deta. Sometimes precise location.

I'm 24-year old web developer and designer. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering but I drifted to pursue computer science. I mostly work with NodeJs and React. During my free time, I explore design and geometric illustrations using illustrator. I especially enjoy creating art-work using only geometric shapes like circle and rectangles.
Why are you participating in this Challenge? (750 characters)
Challenges like this helps me try unconventional things, which are not possible in my regular work. Makes me aware about my capability of tackling creative problems and where i stand in comparison with others.
