Sketch 1 (1,500 characters)

I have tried to render this artwork using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator directly since I`m not a graphic designer by practice who does free hand drawing that well. The concept of this piece is to mimic a paper cut-out artwork as I find it relevant to the topic. Like the paper cut-out shows layers, textures and dimensions, it resembles on how data are being secured and kept, with layers and folders to form an organize texture. The artwork shows a person hushing with a depiction of colorful wavy hair. With this illustration, i believe that the observer`s first eye contact will be the person hushing. I would like to send a direct message of the feeling of « Privacy and discretion « to the observer. Second element is the wavy hair with layers of subtle lines and circles. For me this is like the data information for cyber security. Instead of sticking with a traditional black and blue, i would like to put warm hues, because for me, this is what data is all about. Information that we store that are non uniform or generic. May these be photos or memories or even confidential things we are keeping, until the very information that leads to someone else lives, these data is as colorful as every human characters as well. Though it doesnt illustrate any consequences, nor threats on the cyber security. My objective is to create a metaphorical illustration of Cyber Security that can be relatable to a normal people.

What have you learned through this sketching process? (1,000 characters)

As i go through web searching for cyber security and reading all the research about it, It was true for a fact that our visuals and graphic is a bit stereo type like what we see in hollywood movie. with all the binary codes and colors, its like a show that you can find on netflix with out showing you so much relevance nor content to what it should supposed to mean.

Tell us more about you. (1,000 characters)

I`m an Industrial designer by profession. Creating graphics and artwork is just a hobby, but i take full interest with the topic of social relevance and will going to be impactful with a lot of people. I always believe that a good design can save man kind when i was young, but now i understand that a responsible design can save humanity.

Mai Arollado, this is my favourite from your set. There is something so enigmatic about the figure up close; the secret. And the style, reminiscent of the psychedelic art of the 60s, it promises to take us to the edge of something...

great style!

Thank you for your submission Mai Arollado  and welcome to the Cybersecurity Visuals challenge. Dima here, I am here to support you in the process. Thank you for your visual submission, the texture of it, the paper cut out rendering and the color palette are all spot on! I would love to see how this visual style can be also applied to another visual or sketch, so your submission can also become a visual language proposal. Are you considering applying with another sketch?

hi Dima Boulad , thank you. actually i have my 2nd artwork publish today- the name is "All Seeing Eye". I thought of still relating it to my first idea but a little bit different in terms of representation.
I have added more of icons and visual language, but tried to keep it as minimal as possible just to focus on the main picture to capture observer's attention.

Mai - I really like the style of this. It's got the feel of a Tamara De Lempicka picture. For me the swirls evoke something more emotive than technical. May'be Italian Futurism might be a source of inspiration for the upper elements. For example this image might help. https://news.artnet.com/app/news-upload/2014/02/futurism-nyc-guggenheim-cima-05-e1402411602908.jpg

Hi Ben, that's a cool link and good to know that this is like an Italian Futurism. The intention was to make it more organic than our normal cyber data information cliche as rigid and cold.

Perhaps there's a visual way (sadly beyond my skills) to represent, with you excellent colour palette, the transition between the organic form and the technical. That transition state is the very crux of this challenge for me.

Agreed with Ben Banks , this is a very interesting visual style used here Mai !
