Sketch 1 (1,500 characters)

Photo Editing: A syringe injects malicious code into a smartphone. This was made with photos taken by me: one of a smartphone; the other of my hand holding a syringe half-full of ketchup. Then I put the two together in an image edition software and added the 0s and 1s. This is one representation of an idea that has several variations. The thing that does the injection is, invariably, a syringe. This idea came to my mind when I was thinking about the hacking technique called "SQL injection", related to databases. As far as I know it, SQL injection it is not something people use to insert directly in a cellphone, but that is the general idea: the inception of this malicious something into a technological other thing. About this "technological other thing": visually, it can be a smartphone, a tablet, a desktop, a notebook (laptop), a video monitor, an optical disk, an industrial server, a USB stick, an RJ45 connector, a house automation mechanism or, really anything technological or with Internet Of Things. Well, it can be a robot or even a human being, which gives the idea of how technology influence us or our way into cyberorganisms. And the "malicious something" that is inserted can be expressed by binary algarisms with different colors, or by contrasting emoticons like smileys and bombs, gifts and clock bombs, hearts and eyes and ears (symbolizing eavesdropping) or just differe

Sketch 2 (1,500 characters)

Drawing: A syringe injects malicious code into a smartphone. This was my first sketch of the idea, which I colored latter with children crayons. Not really fancy! What have you learned through this sketching process? (1,000 characters)

I certainly learned that in order to do these images a LOT of time is required. I understood the problem of always representing the "hackers" as baddies wearing hoodies. I think that if we focus in other characteristics to give the idea of the hacking, we will not need to rely in a certain human aspect or type to be this hacker. I mean, If you show a hacking being done, it gets more interesting if the hacker can be anyone: a ballerina, a police officer, a man in suit, a chip factory employee, a bride, an alien...

Tell us more about you. (1,000 characters)

I used to work in advertising. It seems it was in another life. Perhaps it was. I also used to paint, to take pictures and so on. Now I am mostly a father and an office job. I was happy then. I am happier now.

Why are you participating in this Challenge? (750 characters)

I saw this opportunity in a article in The Register. I found it interesting and some ideas occured to me. I decided to try. At least, I hope someone could use this idea. I have more confidence in people using the idea than using any image I will be able to produce.

Great idea! Green and red fit well from a contrast perspective and also because red symbolizes danger. However, from the first glance I thought that the red numbers are taken out since it remembered me of blood sample tests. It might be possible to change this impression by playing with the colours? Really love it!
