Curiosity, Courage, Ethics. I've identified and distilled to these 3 qualities, which I think form the basis of a hacker's journey into hacking. The third guides each to how his/her power is used (or misused). Next steps: I am still working on this one! The communication design can be much improved... explore alternative representation, improve visual messaging, reduce elements, unify composition, etc.

Sketch 2 (1,500 characters)

Would you like to come over for dinner? Hackers' motivation come from core drives such as curiosity, creativity, desire to learn and improve. Hacking is nourishment. So let's communicate hacking through food. This is a dinner menu inspired by cybersecurity, intended to facilitate more in-depth learning via dialogs (longform, peer-led discussion; this is not top-down instant messaging using a single image). Each course would be accompanied by an explanation of the dish and discussion cards. Each diner may be assigned a hat colour (white, grey, black, red, green, blue) and discuss the topics from the point of view of their hacker type. Next steps: create recipes, refine visuals, write explanation/discussion notes to accompany each course.

What have you learned through this sketching process? (1,000 characters)

Wearing a hoodie while sketching made my sketches less compliant with the standard drawing protocols.

Tell us more about you. (1,000 characters)

My interest in cybersecurity started from participating in hackathons with cybersecurity themes. I found similarities between a hacker mindset and a design mindset (e.g. both strive to think differently from the status quo). Later on, I was selected for HutZero, a cybersecurity startup bootcamp (www.hutzero.co.uk). I am excited about the difference I can make, bringing my cross-disciplinary backgrounds from science (and tech) communication and graphic design.

Why are you participating in this Challenge? (750 characters)

Taking part in this challenge (and going through to the next stage) would build upon, and help further develop, my knowledge and work in cybersecurity in the longer term.

Welcome to the challenge Viviane and thank you for your contribution! One thing I really like about your submission is how you've tried portraying the mindset. Well done! We've had a large number of very interesting submissions so far and we will be going through them one by one in the Review phase. In the meantime, we invite you to browse the other submissions and join the conversation around cybersecurity on the platform!

Thanks Dima Boulad – You are so encouraging to all participants! My intention is to strip the concept down to the core elements, then rebuild it back up with the appropriate visual language and new insights.
