Smallest of Data
Focussing on IoT, Health-tech, Big data, Cybersecurity and VUI for this concept, to show the smallest od data makes a big impact.
Sketch 1 (1,500 characters)
Tech Data’s Healthcare organization can help us determine where to focus our needs and get started on our journey toward building healthcare solutions for your specific end users. The medications/ solutions will be personalized and the data which is very vital for each unique individual will go through various phases to provide them unique effective solutions. The world of generalization will fade away and the era of the data-centric approach will flourish.
The idea is to show, the inter-connectivity of the IoT devices which are part of our everyday lifestyle. The devices sync among themselves and leverage on past usage and provide a comfortable experience. But, when unknowingly we are sharing so much important data about ourselves, which makes us the easy target of data hacking and also makes us vulnerable to unknown discrepancies.
John takes shower, and Alexa stabilizes the temperature as per his requirement, but with the flowing water a lot of data is also lost which is used by MNCs / other stakeholders to know about John and to help/ Target them for their own/mutual benefits. But, lost water and data are also used to grow some new plants which signify the positive aspect of it.
Sketch 2 (1,500 characters)
The concept deals with the concept of Tech, Govt & corporations as watchdogs, who are keeping an eye on data of users/ citizens and helping/ misusing them on purpose. The concept depicts humans as data points who are under constant surveillance, from where their data is being used and kept under cloud storage. Everything we say/do is impacting us in some or the other way. We are unaware of the whole ecosystem, but that dumbs us down to scopes to protect ourselves. The third image shows the stereotype behavior of hackers mentality, I have tried to depict that they are just like one of us. They are set apart by their skill and intelligence and not the hoodie or dark pattern which prevails on the web currently. The heart image tries to explore the data breach scenario. How the surrounding impacts our life.
What have you learned through this sketching process? (1,000 characters)
Through this process, It was really fun for me to think of interesting metaphors to describe such deep technical topic. The best part was to use narrative/ storytelling to create a scenario which shows various sides of cybersecurity in one single image. I also talked with people around me to take feedbacks on my drawing, and people felt interested in this interesting scenario buildup which they never thought of earlier. The design process helped me understand various aspects of cybersecurity in detail like Data Analytics, Internet of things & Security & Networking. The design is not only visual but also has the various visceral level of narratives attached to it. The Visual Language the illustrations are flat vector illustration with smart, practical and assertive body language, The colors are soft and bright with welcoming hues, to make this topic penetrable across masses.
Tell us more about you. (1,000 characters)
I am an experience Designer, who dwells between design and technology. I am imbuing empathy and perspective through user experience design.
I’m a designer building things which affects what you see on screen. With a keen focus on the possibilities of digital and technology, my interest lies in building things that have a long-lasting impression. I am into UX, visual storytelling & design sprints.
I love talking about design, pop culture, music and gender equality among everything else that's part of the universe.
Why are you participating in this Challenge? (750 characters)
Being a UX designer, I am always working with Humans, Data and technology. this challenge seemed like a perfect fit with my interests and my career. I have always been fascinated with mysterious things, and cybersecurity as a domain is very mysterious to people in general. Thus, to work with something which needs a lot of inter-department collaboration and narrative layout to make people understand the depth of this topic, it's like a challenge for me to crack and help others to understand the process better.
The most exciting part is to create a story around the vision of various stakeholders, yet enabling the users/ laymen about the impact and scale of importance of this technical topic.
What is your experience with the field of cybersecurity?
I have never worked in cybersecurity before but am excited to learn more and get involved.
What best describes you?
I’m a visual design graduate student.
