Sketch 1 (1,500 characters)

The illustration explains how are under constant surveillance in our day-to-day activities, and how we trust our phones more than our loved ones. We all know that companies and government have back doors in our phones and we carry them every where even to a wash room and spend hours with it. The image displays how a guy uses the phone in a toilet or when he is in his tub, while his girlfriend is not allowed inside. How come we don't allow our partner to be in bathroom and allow our phones and we spend time with our phones to do social media? Also social media companies are allowing government agencies complete access to our private information and they know more about us than our partners.

What have you learned through this sketching process? (1,000 characters)

Talking with my friends and family I have realized how little they understand about the risks that we can face if we let go our privacy. Also considering the fact they are not from technology background makes it even more difficult for me to make them understand about cyber security. When I started sketching for the challenge I had some ideas in my mind but it was very difficult of me to put them in a single image. So I started thinking about the every day things that I do that might be affecting my privacy. After thinking over my daily routine I got the idea of the image that I wanted to make. When I started making the illustration, more ideas started flowing and the whole design came out smoothly and quickly.

Tell us more about you. (1,000 characters)

Hi I am Jitender and I am 38 years old. I am from New Delhi, India. I am very enthusiastic about cyber security. I have done my engineering in Information technology. After I finished by engineering I have been working in IT field and I learned designing and programming. Over the years I have read a lot about cyber security and I have been following technology news worldwide. I acknowledge that current visuals of cyber security are very difficult for a normal user to understand and pretty ambiguous. These visuals are not accepted well by me also.

Why are you participating in this Challenge? (750 characters)

I saw the open IDEO cyber security challenge on its website. I am very well aware about open IDEO and how it is helping to transform and resolve some pretty unique problems that we all face. I have never participated in an open IDEO challenge but this challenge was related to technology. When I read about this challenge it directly touched by brain and heart and I decided that I would have to participate in this challenge. Since I have been working on a Wifi technology chips development and this seemed like a good opportunity to participate and share viewpoint.
