hi , just to inform that I started to model my little carnivorous plant that will be my secondary character :)

I think its cool. As you have a 3D file - not sure if you could animate and swap the background or hats to show a: gardener, a cook, grocer....

Photo of jean godard

yes of course , I created a background , I can created easy a animation but I have just a I core 3 , it's very just for the render ...

This is only sketch level. You could just cut the 3D figure and computer out and place on a static background making it easy to change. Via GIF or slide the backgrounds could change to denote your idea of the hacker being anyone/from i.e. different 'backgrounds'.

I like this idea as a way to give this character some context... he could be anybody, show it!

Hi Jen :) , I have advanced well my character, now we see that it is a hacker, I also realized all the electronic wiring, I started the work of lighting for rendering, I will model in 3d a listening system and others little things , and yes I think I'm going to make the carnivorous plant , very good this idea :)

Have you considered using plants as characters to illustrate cyber security principles? Given the work you do, it seems you would have a rich assortment of things to draw on that someone like myself would lack. Participating in this challenge gives such a broad exposure to different ways of approaching the subject. I find looking at how others have done their submissions helps me to see things in a new light. As for where you live, I assume it is in the Southwest.

Photo of jean godard

yes it is in the south west . I am like you, I learn a lot of everything I see. Yes it is a very good idea with a small plant, a carnivorous plant would be interesting , with 2 eyes and sharp teeth ? :)

The carnivorous plant is a great idea! I'd love to see that done in your style. :)

I salute your courage in taking on a very difficult challenge and succeeding so well. I find it is hard to represent a human hacker without it coming out as either just another person at a keyboard indistinguishable of purpose, or in a view disfavored by the Challenge sterotype, as a sinister type that wears a black hat. Your image falls somewhere in between and thus likely avoids the stereotype while hinting that something maniacal may be afoot.

As a fellow entrant, I invite you to visit my submission and let me know what you think. https://challenges.openideo.com/challenge/cybersecurity-visuals/review/what-is-appropriate-encryption

Best of luck.

P.S. A long time ago I spent three years as a student in Paris. Many fond memories. I don't ever recall visiting New Aquitaine though. Maybe the next time in France ...

Photo of jean godard

Hi John, the caricature style is very good for representing serious subjects, you just have to remain respectful in this art whatever the chosen target :) new aquitaine it is the administrative marriage of the aquitaine and the limousin, the capital is Bordeaux :)

Love this character! :) What is planned for the next stage? Will you be able to animate him to make him even more real? What will be the next message going forward?

Photo of jean godard

Hi ! I 'm glad you like it :) I do not think to animate it but I know how to do it. I prefer to work on all 3d textures and make a photorealistic camera rendering (4k). I think add to this scene accessories that confirm that we see a very experienced hacker. for example a disastrous financial graph, representations that glorifies the atomic bomb, clocks for time zones ect ...and ++++

Photo of Patrizia Russ

That sounds good. :)
Maybe also put some technical equipment on the table or hang on the wall, e.g. for information gathering you could use listening devices, a collection of USB sticks for social engineering, he could also have a whiteboard of some sketches of company org charts, a phone for cold calls etc. ?
Cannot wait to see the next sketch! :)

Photo of jean godard

yes yes, you have good ideas, I saw that you were an expert on your profile, I will model in 3d. Tonight I'm starting to paint my 3d textures on the character

Photo of jean godard

I just want to clarify my idea, I do not want to represent a gardener, a grocer, a colleague ... The character of my creation may have another life apart from the fact that he is a formidable hacker .. thank you :)

Straight out of gmod and into the hacking elite :D

Photo of jean godard

hi ! I'm glad you like it :D

Photo of jean godard

ok I did not understand gmod, it's a video game! not , my graphic culture is satirical cartoonists like Wolinski, Cabu, Blachon ect..here everything is about me :)
