It's never too late! Doctor... turned figure skater!?!

Igniting your creative curiosity…at any point in life.

I choreograph for figure skaters. Competitive figure skating, a sport mostly known for it's flashy costumes and difficult jumps, doesn't scream doctor or global brand marketing expert. However, I have had the unique and exciting opportunity to work with both…on the ice!

Over the years, I have been in awe of the dedication, drive, and pure joy displayed by the adult figure skating community. One student in particular, OBGYN by day…figure skater by night (or early morning), began figure skating around the age of 45 and hasn't looked back since. Now working to master his axel jump, he skates on his lunch hours or finds early morning ice to squeeze in his practice. He has competed at adult nationals and loves every minute of it.

Application: It's never too late! I believe too many of our kids today become "too cool" too early. The teenage years hit and they've pigeonholed themselves. To really inspire, we must lead by example and take on new challenges ourselves. I can say, from experience, I have been forever inspired by my adult figure skating students.
