We (parents, teachers and politics as investors in education) like frameworks - but what it they one of the main creativity KILLERS ?

I decide to share story of my Balance IT framework based on Hao Dinh's I.D.E.A.S. and G.E.M.S. frameworks presented in Grow by Design www.growbydesign.info

I spend a year to developing a framework which will provoke peoples to test their ideas while exploring aspects of their creativity in more depth.

Balance IT - simple 3x3 matrix as 3 interconnecting circles:

B
rainstorm
A
range
L
ink

A
ccurate
N
egate
C
reate

E
nrich
I
terate
T
est

Great framework, you can easily work with it and
parents, teachers and politics as investors in education love it, but ...

BUT there was no sparks in kids eyes when they was forced to follow it up.

So I decide to do try to find less formal ways for cooperation with kids like ones based on PLAYFUL DESIGN approaches and ideas:

Tablet or Construction Sets: Digital Kids obviously need both!

/open/creative-confidence/inspiration/tablet-or-construction-set-digital-kids-obviously-need-both/

It's very easy to focus on framework, you make it and work is done.
It can be very easily sold and invest, with notions and motions is much more difficult, but reward is much more higher :-)

My biggest inspiration are now Playful Communities in UK:

Please look at and comment my other inspirations, I am actually preparing for Ph.D. and you comments or build on hints are very valuable for me: /profiles/dysgenio/contributions.html

Hi Rudolf

Great work on the BALANCE IT framework. I myself am a large fan of frameworks. Where a framework often falls flat is in it's rigidity. Much like software interfaces, frameworks need to create an emotional connection (especially with children) if they are to be accepted and used continuously.

I recommend developing a very short, illustrated childrens books titled "BALANCE IT" where friendly, fun characters can be developed to represent each of the letters and turn the framework process-oriented story that engages children emotionally.

The framework then becomes both fun and memorable, as it is no longer a rigid "framework". Obviously there are many ways this can be executed - this was just a thought off the top of my head.
