Inspire a Young Person

Know someone who could use a little more creative confidence?

One way to learn about creative confidence is to get out there and help others achieve it. Whether it's a sibling, a friend from school or a kid in your neighbourhood, why not take a stab at creating an opportunity for them to nurture their own creative spirit?

Once you have friends onboard, it's time to have some fun – you could set up an art studio and paint in your backyard, design and build a sandcastle at the beach or find your favorite recipe and get creative in the kitchen. The sky's the limit. Remember to take lots of pictures or videos, and then come back to OpenIDEO and share your discoveries and learning with us to help inform what we design together in the Ideas phase.

For an awesome example of what this looked like recently for one OpenIDEO community member, check out this Inspiration.

This incredible drawing of the world’s most famous skyline was created by autistic artist Stephen Wiltshire after he spent just 20 minutes in a helicopter gazing at the panorama.

I had the opportunity this past summer to volunteer at a school for the underprivileged. It was here that I packed backpacks full of school supplies, colored book marks, and Dr. Seuss novels for young kids to emphasize the importance of an education.

Inspiring children to open the creative potential, we have an opportunity to return to the childhood. From business people we turn into people playing. To keep childishness as long as it is possible - there is the main problem.

Everything around us in one way or another can be improved and sometimes it takes a very creative mind to come up with that improvement, that afterwards just seems so obvious.

It's the little things you do in life that add up. Simply taking the time to speak out to someone that is either having a hard time or simply deserves to hear a compliment can make the difference!

We need to instill in the youth today to question everything and to come up with new and more creative solutions for tomorrow.
