REVITALIZE Create a community ART LAB or STUDIO from suitable ruin near you

Especially in EU, due to various strange limitations or just due city districts boundaries, there are in large cities a lot of unused ruins. Believable me, there is at least one near you too. Let's revitalize them into community ART LAB or STUDIO!

YES, in my city Prague, Czech Republic, EU we have in our district Prague 8 this ruin, I attach photos.

It's a old school eating hall.

Can it be REVITALIZED into Creative Confidence enablement community ART LAB with STUDIOs and exibition hall ?

In this challenge, we want to create ideas with young people, not for them. Outline how you’re planning to involve young people or other end-users (parents, teachers, etc) in designing, iterating or testing your idea during the Ideas phase.

Our example: Revitalize old school Eating HALL into Creative Confidence Enablement place.

It's ideal combination of large exhibition space (eating hall) and some smaller rooms for studios. It's also reasonable small, so it still can be a truly local centre, without need to attract large audiences outside Prague 8 and Prague 9 districts.

Ideal PLACE for our 'http://SKILLLAND.eu - Explore Yourself' project:

Proposed configuration will include exhibition hall and around 6 ART LAB studios:

1. Feel IT - Materials & Methods Exploration by combining together
Explore in hands on style all kind of materials and techniques in context of MAKE & ART

2. Buid IT - Visual Spatial Imagination and thinking by building stuff
Learn how to use imagination and thinking in dimensions by building 3 dimensional stuff

3. Tell IT - Story telling with pictures
Show what you think, feel and build to others - both in exhibition hall and social (internet)

4. Mix IT - Tinkering with Cooking
We believe then cocking is good driver for tinkering, plus secondary school in near neighbour 'produce' cooks and bakers - so we hope to get inspirational inter-ship :-)

5. Model IT - 3D modelling & manufacturing
Model it on computer (3D CAD program or modeller) and produce with computer operated machines (3D printing or 3D cutting)

6. Control IT - Computers and tablets connected to stuff
How we can creatively bridge commuters with MAKE & ART approaches - convert thinks to interactive objects ?

Well, this building will need AN INVESTMENT, but it has nice location near secondary school and it's near other 6x schools, 5x kindergartens, 3x kids centres, 2x public libraries, 1x multi-cinema, 1x old style huge presentation centre, 3x senior care places.

Plus it's near UNDERGROUND with lift and access for persons with disabilities.

So it has well fit for STEAM schools cooperation during week and kids&parents actions during weekends.

How might you envision your idea spreading across geographies or cultures so that it inspires young people around the world to cultivate their creative confidence?

REVITALIZE building near you.

SHARE your success.

LINK together.

In long therm we will like to help others with initiating funding organisation similar to Art Places America:

Yes, also participate in research, it will be our first dreamed Visualllab concept implementation:

What skills, input or guidance would you like to receive from the OpenIDEO community to help you build out or refine your idea further?

Are there anywhere in EU an successful projects like this and how they was funded ?

Hey. Thanks for concept. I also had a similar idea of renovating existing spaces. I expanded on your ideas a little bit, but placed it under a slightly different context.

Please advice. Thanks!
