Out Of The Box Explorer App
Another app! I know. But this one works with the Not a Box creativity tool kit to help digitize the things you explore and build. The app also allows you to upload and share to foster collaboration amongst users.
The Out of the Box Explorer app builds creative confidence by asking user's to think a little differently and learn through exploration. The application works in two different ways customizable to the user. You can elect to receive daily prompts of fun things to do and explore, or you can search from a list of tasks/projects when you want to do some creative thinking. In either mode, you'll be given an idea to work on and the app features will allow you to document, edit, upload and share your progress. You can use the draw feature to sketch out your concepts, record a sound or take a photo to capture inspiration. You'll then be able to add your content to your profile. You can also browse through other's contributions through a collaborator's feed. It will work similar to the OpenIDEO platform where you are encouraged to provide feedback and build upon other's work.

In this challenge, we want to create ideas with young people, not for them. Outline how you’re planning to involve young people or other end-users (parents, teachers, etc) in designing, iterating or testing your idea during the Ideas phase.
Of course we always want to get the prototype in front of a user ASAP, so it would be helpful to put some simple sketches together to get quick feedback in order to refine the app. It would be great to run tasks by user's to see if they are engaging. It would also be great if the tasks could at some point be crowd sourced and ranked by user's in regard to difficulty, level of fun, etc...
How might you envision your idea spreading across geographies or cultures so that it inspires young people around the world to cultivate their creative confidence?
The app is universal in that anyone of any age or culture (and any type of tablet or smartphone) could use and benefit from it. The features would be super simple so any age group could use them. The content could also be customizable to different age ranges and cultures. For those without phones, the Not A Box kit would work in the same way.
What skills, input or guidance would you like to receive from the OpenIDEO community to help you build out or refine your idea further?
Any feedback would be helpful. Especially on the projects, tasks, features and content. Thanks in advance!
