Beta version of the digital platform was refined :

http://cenelaine.wix.com/dreamstarterbeta

----------------------------------

New functionality proposition :

Add a "mentor" login possibility

>>> On the DreamStarter platform you could login eather :

- As a "visitor" (visiting the different dreams / dreamstarters / you have the possibility to post some comments)

- A "DreamStarter" (proposing your dream and collaborating to make it come true)

- A "Mentor" (proposing your help)

Could imagine a kind of market place aera : where mentors meat dreamstarters

--------------------------------

Communication approach proposition :

What if we ask this kids to be Dream Starters Ambassadors ? :

Many thanks to Elaine Cen !

+ New proposition : create a "parent entry", to let them know about the DreamStarter Principles, reassurance on security / child protection.

V2 (Updated 11/25/2013)

--------------------------------

What's new ? / Precisions :

  • "Kickstarter Kids" becomes "DreamStarter - Where kids creative dreams come into reality"
  • A platform dedicated to kids (the only users), from 10 to 15 yo (to be confirmed)
  • Redefining crowdfunding : on dreamstarter.com, kids don't look for money, but for advices, material a/o immaterial help.
  • "creative dreams" should be something to create / build, in order to make it "'achievable" (throw my puppet into space vs become a super hero). We'll give examples to help kids express their creative dream.
  • Dream expression toolkit : ergonomics and easy to use functions to help kids expression their dreams, either through video, drawing or writing.
  • 2 possible entries : share a dream / explore dreams
  • Limited time (choosen by the kids) to achieve each dream.
  • "Social" Achievement of the dream. "Dream Teams" are to be created, dedicated to a specific dream.
  • Possible geolocalisation function, to identify close potential members of the team (neighborhood)
  • Per Dream / User / Dream Team : forum widget / platform (to be defined further), kind of "hub" where kids can interact and make the dream come true (advices, contents, schedule, meeting, drawing, visio, etc.)
  • "Achieved !" function to be used by the kids, once he thinks the dream has come to reality. (+ result publication - pics, videos, etc.)

How could the concept work for people with limited / no Internet access - countries in development etc. ?

A physical "DreamBoards" could be installed in School Lobbies : each student could publish its creative dream project, with contact infos in order to create the team.

For developping countries : with the help of a NGO (to be defined) > installation of the "DreamBoards" in the classrooms + explanation of the concept. When the board is full, NGO sent the papers with the different creative dreams to the DreamStarter team. Publication on the website + solution to be imagined to bring kids together.

Coming soon / To be defined / Action required (experts are welcome ;-) :

  • Legal aspect / Privacy / Kids protection
  • Prototyping (both digital platform + DreamBoards toolkit)
  • Scenario writing
  • How to Drive-to-Platform
  • DreamTeam Hub specifications
  • Strengths & Weaknesses

V1 (Conception Phase)

--------------------------------

Adapt the Kickstarter platform and create a "kids" version of it.
The concept : kids post their “creative dream” / members of the community helps the “kidstarters” to achieve this creative dream, bringing diverse solutions to make it possible.

Kickstarter is great community that can transform innovative dreams into reality.

What if we use it to transform kids creative dreams into reality ?

We could create a Kickstarter kids brand, and use most of the platform functionalities to help kids achieve their creative dreams.

You are a kids ? You have a creative dream (ex : send your puppet into space) ? You can post your dream on the platform + your first identified needs.
Then members of the community (adults a/o kids) will have the possibility to help you developping your creative dream. Not only with money, but with advices, solutions, gifts… all what could help and participate to the achievement of the creative dream.

One creative dream would be “funded” when it comes into reality.

*New* Refinement question: What will the future look like with your idea in it?

In the future, adults will be more confortable with their creative confidence, because they will have been educated believing in their dreams, and acting to make them come true, they will think again that every thing is possible. They will have the power to act for their dream. Imagine how the world could change. The relationship between kids / adults in the sphere of education will be better to. With this idea, the progress will be endless : kids will become adults, and will then help their kids nurrishing their creative confidence, etc.

In this challenge, we want to create ideas with young people, not for them. Outline how you’re planning to involve young people or other end-users (parents, teachers, etc) in designing, iterating or testing your idea during the Ideas phase.

[ 12/09/2013 update ] Next crucial step will consist in testing the dream starter concept with kids from 10 to 15 years old. We are going to create a Dream Starter International Beta Tester Team. First question to ask will be about the kids dream, then about the DreamStarter approach. [11/25/2013 Update] DreamStarter is a Kids platform, with only kids users. ---- We could invite a small kids + adults community to test a beta version of the brand platform.

How might you envision your idea spreading across geographies or cultures so that it inspires young people around the world to cultivate their creative confidence?

[11/25/2013 Update] "DreamBoards" proposition for kids who won't have any Internet acces.s ---- kickstarters is a duplicable platform.

What skills, input or guidance would you like to receive from the OpenIDEO community to help you build out or refine your idea further?

[11/25/2013 Update] - Prototyping advices - Legal / Juridic advices - NGO advices ---- this is a first idea, I need the open ideo community diverse talents to roll it out !
