A 40ft tall rubber duckie designed by dutch artist Florentijn Hofman has cruised the world's harbors since 2007. As an inspiration, youth can design, create and install BIG Installations in the public realm, then compete against others worldwide.
Inspired by dutch artist Florentijn Hofman's rubber duckie, teams of creative young people from all over the world will get together to design, create, build and install BIG creative installations within the public realm of major cities. The competition or challenge will enable the younger generations to express their creativity and skills, strengthen their creative confidence and national pride, while competing against other groups of young people from other places. They would earn international exposure and major prizes such as grants or scholarships. The idea would be to pick something special that represents each of the teams particular city and then transform it into a design, an art piece or a sculpture. All projects would follow the same guidelines and regulations such as size, and must fit within one pre-selected category by the creators of the competition.
