Fight Club for Kids

Ok. Minus the fighting, the crazy, and soap, what if there was a game/club (local or global) where kids with phones got text messages with small challenges to perform around creative expression.

This "fight club" or "CC Club" would include a series of challenges around creative expression, made quick and easy, that would entail different levels which would successively stretch the creative confidence of young people.

First you'd just do the challenge, then when you're ready you submit it w/ a photo, then you start actually showing the expression with people, and finally you're doing it with others.

Challenges would be fun, kooky, wild, and perhaps somewhat feel rebellious! It doesn't have to be heavy handed, or cutesie. Rather, it's raw and edgy. Think creative expression + snapchat + reddit.

In this challenge, we want to create ideas with young people, not for them. Outline how you’re planning to involve young people or other end-users (parents, teachers, etc) in designing, iterating or testing your idea during the Ideas phase.

Before building a platform. We can get different age groups to come up with projects and ideas that excited them. Cane's Arcade comes to mind and how that caught fire around the globe. Also identify young people in public eye (T.V., Music, but also in doing social good work, and use their learning to design challenges). Test out the ideas in analog form in various hubs with groups of friends, or in select schools.

How might you envision your idea spreading across geographies or cultures so that it inspires young people around the world to cultivate their creative confidence?

CONTENT: The challenges would reflect geography and cultural nuances. Also because there are some challenges that can be "global" in nature, there can be categories of selection (global challenge, regional challenge, local challenge). TECH: You can use SMS or smartphones for the challenges, given the accessibility of SMS globally (even in areas where internet or paper materials is less accessible).

What skills, input or guidance would you like to receive from the OpenIDEO community to help you build out or refine your idea further?

I'd like to include some of the inspiration seen on this challenge turned into small bite size challenges. Would be great to generate 50 challenges now to test out and run by young people.

Awesome idea ! SMS challenges is great, but I do think you can reach a wider audience using social networks as groups can be formed, and events can be made. Using SMS only will segment your concept to only people with mobile phones, whereas online it is definitely a larger audience. Also it will enable larger groups of people to join your concept as it would be advertised more throughout the success of this idea. I really like the idea of "Fight Club"
