Tell us about your idea

Joy Of Learning (JOL) is an extensive and profound learning experience that immerses members in a model of inquiry and problem-based learning. Staff members work collaboratively to gain knowledge to solve significant student learning problems in their schools. We seek to understand individual members' needs and then assist them in meeting objectives through a collaborative learning environment and with the support of experienced coaches. The training program comprises of Webinars, Staff Exchange with partner schools, eLearning, and finding solutions to not only teach but learn and help the school deliver better.

What part(s) of the pre-COVID school system do you wish to leave in the past? Why?

On-site workshops, fieldwork and offline professional learning, this is costly and not scalable. Further domain knowledge which is considered the core of teaching at schools seems out-dated, the teachers do not have the skills to help students prepare for the world. Need to give up the traditional chalk and talk methods being used for teaching and learning.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.

As School Improvement Coach, he focuses on school transformation with an emphasis on culture as a service. With over 30 years of experience as a trainer and mentor, Sandeep has been involved with schools across the country and worked with teachers and students all over the world.

Future of School Education - Long-lasting success in professional learning needs a ‘culture of learning,’ and this is where I feel that if teachers do not take charge of their knowledge, there is no future. The teachers need to discover themselves; they need to learn more methods; they need to share more and overcome the lack of professional learning. It is high time for the PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) to take charge. You too can support your teams to design the Future of Learning – which could be a focus on the level of the classroom and transformation in organisational culture.

We are located at Dehradun, situated at the foothills of the Indian Himalayas, the city is considered the mecca for schooling in India. The town is the capital of the state of Uttarakhand, we have students and teachers from all over the country in our valley. Sarah Nethan responding to your questions:

1. I'm curious to learn about which schools you've partnered with, are there any in rural areas, and are all teachers in a school required to be enrolled for this program?
Our focus has been in rural India and small-towns. The first partner for our school culture transformation work way back in 2012 was and is The Fabindia School (, they have gone a step further and established a Learning Forward India Academy in the Bali Village of Rajasthan State in India.

2. Is it possible for you to share links of the same?
Useful link for the Program (The Joy Of Learning)
The teachers and all participants work with us to take their learning forward - we deliver using Zoom + Telegram + G Suite.

We attribute the success of the Professional Learning Program (PLP) to these three factors:
A. Building an All-India Learning Community of resources;
B. Fostering the teachers’ happiness by empowering them to create their own Professional Learning Program; and
C. Embracing social media and technology

Will be delighted to share and email updates if you need.
