Tell us about your idea

Just like elderly can meet their relatives safely in "visiting containers in homes for elderly", students could attend class in small "cabins". The containers can be disinfected during nights, and new students could attend the next day. And the container can be transported to new places when needed.

The containers can be used again and again, they can be moved to different parts of the world, and used in different contexts, e.g. pandemics, refugee camps, natural disaster areas etc.

What part(s) of the pre-COVID school system do you wish to leave in the past? Why?

Especially in higher education and similar, "unnecessary attendance" could be avoided. Distance learning sometimes works better!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.

I am working at a University of Applied Sciences. I like learning new things, and visiting the IDEO pages was part of a course I am taking (Media Management). This challenge was inspiring so I decided to contribute.

What region are you located in?

Where are you located?

I live and work in Turku, Finland. Turku is a city with a population a bit short to 200 000. We are located on the west coast of Finland, "just across the water from Stockholm, Sweden".

Great idea Peter Bjorklund -- love the possibility of dropping a few of these on each continent and tracking their footprint as they go mobile. This would indeed be a game-changing idea. In terms of teaching and learning I would propose opening students up to understanding that learning can take place in any setting (including that of a mobile container) and that as students their job is to identify learning opportunities and experiences that are already all around them. This is one of our many goals with the Authentic Learning Lab - I'd be happy to discuss further if you are interested.

I can see clearly how our ideas fit together. No problem :) Great!
