Tell us about your idea

‘Knowledge Bank’ a learning hub is a service design system to store-share-reutilize learning materials and updated technologies to support students by ‘Earn while Learning’ model. It provides temporary mobile classes through portable knowledge parlour and helps students in learning, doing homework, borrowing teacher's assistance (not only from own school but from anyone willing to help from any place), sharing knowledge and getting paid for sharing valuable experiences.

What challenges or opportunities it’s trying to address: The problems identified are discontinuity in education due to lack of guidance and financial crisis, zero internet connectivity.

Proposed systems probable solution:1) A global education system for all, despite of having internet connection or not, 2) Providing learning sources to all, 3) Arranging financial help through gamification, 4) Creating a helpful young brigade, who will be bound to help society alias community or individuals in future, 5) Creating leaders and exchanging ideas to enhance global collaboration and create practical solutions or futuristic innovations, 6) Mobile educational service chain will create a new employment possibility.

How it will contribute the best:

People are getting habituated with online schooling system due to COVID-19 situation. But that cannot be a universal solution. Around the world 68% of students (4 billion)does not have internet access till date. Online learning from home is not easy for them. Neither have guidance to continue education or enough financial support as well.

Government communication sectors, like post offices can be the supporting pillars for creating a network that enhance education.Since all remote places are connected through post offices, it will be easier to create awareness among people.Post offices have also leveraged online services. By collecting books, devices and technologies they can establish a knowledge bank.It will have several knowledge parlours as temporary classroom - a portable mobile cabin with multiple seating arrangement, covered with transparent air tight surface with 2 meters of distance between each seat. The parlour will equipped with updated technologies and devices along with internet connection. Hub will also run a special service chain, who will responsible to distribute learning materials physically for those stays far from the hub station.They will carry portable mobile knowledge parlour to cooperate students. Students will  connect online with instructors and access learning materials from here. It will also ensure maintaining social distancing during COVID-19.

The model will have four different types of users: Care Taker, Donor,Facilitator,Mobile Classroom Carrier.

How does the system works: School children, teachers, parents, schools, communities and individuals can open multiple accounts as donors and care takers, with ‘Knowledge Bank’, but there will be only one facilitator who can drive the system for a particular domain.Care takers will be allowed to borrow and use learning materials, internet connection and temporary classrooms etc for free of cost. The knowledge parlour will allow them to to continue their education by attending online classes and discuss problems or brainstorm their ideas with others. They will be able to connect with anyone for assistance. It is compulsory to take an oath to contribute back and help donors in future.The more they use the systems gains points and assures higher opportunities to become future leader.Donors donate learning materials, sharing knowledge, devices etc. Donors will be able to score points. Points will ensure them about their safety in future.There will be several categories of available facilities for donors.  Depending on his points they can choose facilities after a certain point of time (i.e. as help for senior citizen, natural calamities)to get help from care takers. It will work as money back policy in life insurance. After a certain point of time, care takers are bound to pay back their gratitude to the respective donor/ donors.Facilitator will own and drive respective group.Mobile Classroom Carrier will travel with mobile knowledge parlour and facilitate students to attain online connectivity.Gaining points and gamification - Those who helps solving homework for others will get paid and utilize the fund for their learning, donating learning materials will earn points to get further opportunities,schools that decide to philanthropy needful non-school students to support will also gain points to use as business opportunities, individuals or community contributing towards this system will gain opportunities to safe guard their future like help during old age, natural calamities, tax benefit etc.Thus, the entire community will participate in a system to create new employment chain and enhanced learning among all.

What part(s) of the pre-COVID school system do you wish to leave in the past? Why?

Schools run by government that treat everyone same and allow access to every learning materials, technology, opportunities that helps student to improve. Equity is the medium that can help all to stand on the same platform to reform society. Being a student from a poor family I have experienced obstacle to access needful amenities. Many students lose their goal in life for this. To stop this discrepancy, school can only play a major role to enhance their confidence towards life which will reduce percentage of suicide as well. In my dream school, despite of a student comes to school or not he will be assisted by school community to understand his task virtually or physically. It’s not necessary to read books but to learn lesson from life. Struggle to survive can also be taught by students to face practicality that makes them mentally strong. Thus sharing knowledge will enhance learning and allow them to innovate practical solution. Students will be awarded for sharing experience.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.

I am an alumni from IDC IIT Bombay and at present working as a Sr. UX Lead Designer at Cognizant. I am a proud mother of my 8 years old daughter. My inclination to contribute towards society leads me to run an Art School, free of costs to teach kids designing efficiently and differently. At present, I am researching on Neuro Design to understand thinkers mind and application in UX. In future I am willing to establish a School of Design that contribute to identify value of decision and identify ROI, through neuro design. 

Sudden changes in daily educational practices due to lock down have created a huge gap between school going students. I feel we need to address this as soon as possible to continue our journey as global citizen and save pupil from surrendering too early.

Where are you located?

I am located at Santoshpur in Kolkata within West Bengal, India.We are surrounded with diverse people. The Community is a mix of people with wealth-health-proper education and those who doesn’t have single penny to continue their livelihoods. On the contrary of the present situation of COVID 19, we are added to another crisis of zero digital communication, after devastating ‘AMPHAN Cyclone’. All are facing trouble to connect and survive. Continuity in education is a real challenge for kids.
