GradesPlus is an e-learning platform designed and customized for schools to keep in touch with their students. The platform allows teachers to post quizzes, notes, set up online lab experiments for students to engage in. Students can attempt quizzes and every interaction on the platform such as accessing notes, conducting online lab experiments are warded points and placed on a Leaderboard to create a competitive spirit.

This portal is customized per school and the content structured as per the syllabus coverage of that school such that students are in sync with their teachers.

What part(s) of the pre-COVID school system do you wish to leave in the past? Why?

Learning being confined in a classroom. Covid has awaken many schools to the realization that learning can happen outside the confines of the classroom courtesy of remote learning platforms like gradesplus. The Lack of digitized school study material is something that has to be left in the past as this hinders learning.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.

I am an Education Technology developer and Founder of Student Hub Limited with the deep desire to add to the prevailing body of knowledge.

I was motivated by the fact that school assessments are expensive, time consuming and labor intensive. This inspired me to design GradesPlus that allows teachers to set online tests that quickly assesses student's learning.

I thus want to show the world that termly assessments can be digitized and students can learn from anywhere any time because of e-learning platforms like GradesPlus

What region are you located in?

  • Eastern Africa

Where are you located?

I live in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda that has over 4 million habitats with half of those being students. There is internet connectivity of 3G that 95% of the households have access to a mobile phone with Internet. Majority of students in Kampala are day scholars implying that they can still have access to e-learning at home
