Tell us about your idea

We’ve all heard or read about the importance and benefits of fathers being involved in their children’s lives – such as an increase in children’s cognitive abilities, self-control, empathy and emotional well-being. But how do we start? Fatherhoood is a platform for daddy to exchange bedtime story video, to improve the special bonding time between you and your child. Learn from others how to make silly voices and capture and captivate the children’s attention. More, it provides a platform for the kids with specific learning needs and connect family to other services they may need .

What part(s) of the pre-COVID school system do you wish to leave in the past? Why?

Our world has changed significantly compared to the time when we were kids. However, the true meaning of education/ parenting have not been changed. Education is the process of facilitating learning. Education is a process but not a product. Pre-COVID era, many parents are so busy with making a living that we forget to make a life, not to mention how to being a parents. Parents gave their kids to babysitters or day care workers if they can afford it. Since COVID-19, almost everyone in the planet are all staying home (hopefully staying positive) and everyone is talking about and sharing tips how to staying with your child at home. Wait a mins - do we need to take courses to learn how we stay with our kids? I think COVID provides a good opportunity for everyone in the world to reflect themselves, to reflect what they want to achieve as human being and to reflect what is the most important thing in life.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.

Why Fatherhoood has 3 "O"? "O'' means Original, Open-minded and Outstanding.

What region are you located in?

  • South-eastern Asia

Where are you located?

Hong Kong families typically have one or at most two children. The traditional role of the Asian (perhaps HK too) father is to earn money to support the family. The day-to-day work of raising the child is done by the mother, grandparents or even domestic helpers. There are over 390,000 domestic helper in HK, considering we have only 7,450,000 population here. Its time for a change! We need to redefine the fatherhood.

Hello Father Hoood,
I'm curious to learn more about the platform and the types of tools it offers. As a dad myself who reads bedtime stories, I sometimes find it challenging to keep my kid engaged. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Gilberto, thanks for your interest. At this stage, we hope each daddy can share their video form their own countries. So you may see 10 difference language of bedtime story sharing in our platform sooner or later . Depends on your kids age, as a daddy, the best way for us to do it perhaps we just stop reading and make it up your own self ;) LOL. Don’t give up, the first night probably is a nightmare. If you keep it up , you will make it as a habit with your kid.

Back to our fatherhoood bedtime story platform, our ultimate goal is to redefine fatherhood through bed-time story. As you are from the West Coast, i am sure it won’t surprise you as you also know technology nowadays allow us to use machine learning to find out where speaker or bedtime story teller are falling down and we can then helps them find their natural rhythm to speak with their kids. But that will not be happen unless we have more capacity to do it

Hi Father Hoood, I love this idea. Both myself and my husband read to my son as a child. He was from France and we had a complete library of French books that he would read to him every night. We would at times take turns, I would read to my son and then his father. His father has past when he was in his teens, I know that memories of him and his father ready are very special to him.
