Tell us about your idea

Daydream Believers are collaborators, problem solvers and creative thinkers. We are passionate about education and want to encourage our young people to get a better sense of their future selves.

This three minute video is a who/ what/ why of our programme -

In August 2019 we launched our webpage with over 200 hours of free online lessons. Our resources are vibrant, engaging and equitable. Most lessons only require pen, paper and an imagination. Teachers can select the lessons they want to use, building a unique and up to date resource, which both compliments and supports their teaching and learning.

In May 2020 we partnered with LEGO and D&AD to create lessons in storytelling and Creative Bravery. We are now at a pivotal point in our programme and want to look at how we can scale our dreams. We want to become the ‘go to’ free resource when it comes to creative thinking. We want to support creative thinking right across the global curriculum and resource innovative teaching methods when we return to our classrooms.

We believe with IDEO’s power as a connector within the education system, you can take this great idea and help us reach both innovators and funders who can support our dreams.

What part(s) of the pre-COVID school system do you wish to leave in the past? Why?

The very nature of the concept of creative thinking, which could be useful over a wide range of educational subjects, presents its own challenges. It doesn’t fit into one category or one box; rather it provides a structure to an approach that can be applied to almost any subject. This has always been challenging for those trying to understand its place in education. We believe we need to return teachers to the front and centre of the innovation process, but within a context that challenges, supports and resources them to enable learners to be brave in these new conditions which now confront them.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.

I am the Team Leader on the Programme and a Design Lecturer at Edinburgh College. This short  3 minute video is an insight into some of the other team members and what inspired them to become a Daydream Believer.
