Tell us about your idea

We want to create the first network of education through art, which generates a creative and open context. It is oriented so that people with different skills, (who are eager to learn new things), can exchange their knowledge freely with others. Our platform will allow mutual support between users, a space that is aware that people can help each other and more in this time of change at a global level, where new forms of education are needed. Where also support the work of artists to make themselves known and reach people who otherwise would not access so easily to their content.
We want to create the first version of this platform for Latin America because it is our most immediate area and where we think we need to accelerate educational processes for the time being.

What part(s) of the pre-COVID school system do you wish to leave in the past? Why?

I believe that the best position is not to subtract, we must create a holistic formation of the human being as described by Professor Howard Gardner, in his book Art Education and Human Development. What Gardner does not share, like other authors (and us), is the viewpoint that privileges rational logic above all else: "A group of philosophers with a marked interest in the arts, especially the German philosopher Ernst Cassirer [...] and the American philosophers Susanne Langer [...] and Nelson Goodman [...] challenged these ideas head on. Each of these scholars of symbolization pointed out that the view that privileged 'logic above all' was too restrictive. As a species, human beings are capable of a wide range of symbolic competencies, the scope of which extends beyond logic and language in their scientific dress" (Gardner, 1994: 27).

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.

Hello, my name is Junior Portilla together with my brother Jose, we have developed an idea that concerns us for the future that comes in our Latin American region and the whole world, education. This has always been a problem in our region and with time it becomes more accentuated and puts us against the clock in this global tide in which we have to move in order not to perish. The idea that we share with you is simply to help each other to build progress as humanity.

What region are you located in?

  • Latin America and the Caribbean

Where are you located?

We live in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
