I am leading a nonprofit Org. w/ a multidisciplinary, all volunteer Working Group to design the education system of the future.
Tell us about your idea
This concept is based on the Digital Transformation of the Education System. It provides every learner with their unique “learners’ journey” following a digital path that evolves according to the learners’ vision of their perfect selves. At the end of this digital path, each learner achieves a destiny that makes the best use of their unique combination of talents, knowledge, and abilities. The student can contribute to society in creative and ingenious ways. This solution reimagines the interactions of people, assets, and technologies.
The hub of this technology is a centralized cloud-based platform of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and other advanced technologies. It includes an application layer that provides all stakeholders with digital views relative to their needs. As for the learner, the software uses students’ assessment information, and the students expressed interest to suggest new interactive multimedia content for a variety of devices. The system presents content that challenges the learner, explores new topics, and provides project-based learning to provide a more integrated learning experience.
As for stakeholders, there will be various digital views available to the students, parents, school psychologists, school teacher-facilitators, guidance counselors, social workers, and administrators. The system is smart enough to protect private information, grant access to stakeholders based on roles and relationships, and provide administrators anonymous aggregate data analytics. New information from stakeholders is used by the smart digital education system to tailor and improve the learning experience for the students. The system is flexible enough to accommodate classroom learning, remote learning, and hybrid learning. The virtual collaborative environments, telepresence, and digital reality technologies will make any delivery method natural to most students. The application will also maintain a best-practices repository and knowledge management system that allows education professionals to share what works, try the method or treatment, and verify with data the efficacy of the approach.
As for the physical assets such as facilities, they will be reallocated and redesigned to provide access to tools and equipment for sharing among the student body. For example, schools building will become more like workspaces. To include collaboration rooms, with rolling multi-tool collaboration tool-boxes (age appropriate), Creative Multimedia production equipment labs, 3D Printing / smart production, technology labs, and scientific labs. All labs will have the equipment and softer that allows remote access and control with proper authorization and access so students can work remotely in safety. Any student in the system will be able to use any tools or equipment at any of the facilities; thus, allowing equal access to the best technologies for all students.
The facilities will also have physical fitness resources in every neighborhood in the school district. All school buildings are treated equally because students are group by cohorts that can come from any part of town, and students travel to the closest satellite school to logon and communicate with their cohort. The administration will distribute what schools are used for what purpose. To include offering meal services, satellite homework sites, afterschool, fitness facilities, temporary dormitories, locker rooms, or various types of technology centers. All capabilities should be equally distributed in the school district, such each student has to go no more than 10(TBR) miles from their home to obtain a capability. Otherwise, the school district will subsidize ride-share or mass transit services to get students to their school. The School social workers will advocate for food resources or temporary dormitory services for students in need.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.
I am a systems engineering, with a Ph.D. focus in Innovation and Technology Management. I'm seeing so many problems in our local communities that are not being solved by our elected officials. I decided I wanted a way to bring members of the community together to design solutions to our problems, and implement them within the context of current laws. As such I started a nonprofit to collaborate with other social innovators, community leaders, and public officials to develop mutually acceptable solutions to our common problems.
