Tell us about your idea

To be honest, I don't understand why schools across America decided to sell out and use a shady program like Zoom instead of something like more reliable Skype or Discord, but that's not my point.

There's a great free to play game/social platform called AltspaceVR, where people all around the world come to chat, socialize, and even learn. The best part is that, despite the name, you don't actually need a Virtual Reality headset to run this game; you CAN use a headset, but you can also use your phone or pc to run it! I think this kind of software is much more engaging and fun for everyone.

What part(s) of the pre-COVID school system do you wish to leave in the past? Why?

I want school to be about learning not profit there is no reason to choose Zoom over something like Discord, which is much more intuitive and won't sell your data. I want schools to want to take care of their students, not their profits.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to share this idea.

I'm just baffled by the choice to use horrid, shady pieces of software just because a company gave a discount when there are so many better, more reliable, and FREE pieces of software out there. I just gave one example.

What region are you located in?

  • North America

Where are you located?

I live in Northbrook, so I'm in probably one of the worst spots in Illinois during this pandemic.
